Music Technology
Music Technology is thriving as an AS/A2 subject at BMS and we are very well equipped to offer this both in the sixth form, and lower down the school as components of GCSE Music and in KS3 lessons.
Music Tech allows musicians to record, produce and arrange music using a variety of computer software and recording techniques. These include computer sequencing, multitrack and classical recording, and composing and arranging using SIbelius software.
We have a main Music Tech classroom with 10 Apple computers, each hooked up to a MIDI keyboard and running Logic Express, Reason and Sibelius software. These computers form a small network so work can be remotely accessed between all the machines, and all are connected to the internet.
In addition we have a recording control room with the following equipment:
* Apple Mac Pro running Logic Pro 7.2 and Reason
* MOTU 896 HD audio interface
* Apogee AD-16X analogue-digital converters
* Mackie Onyx mixing console
* Neumann U-87, Neumann KM-184, Shure SM-57/58, Rode NT-5, Rode NT2 microphones
* Avalon VT-737 valve channel strip
* A-Designs Pacifica mic preamps
* A variety of outboard signal processors
And adjacent to this is a live recording room with headphone monitoring system. Have a look at the Student Showcase page to hear A-Level work!
